Is there a free version of Figma?

Yes there are two free versions of Figma:

Starter plan

The Starter plan is designed for individual and very small teams to get started with Figma. You get unlimited files in the Drafts space, which you can share with unlimited viewers. Additionally, you can co-edit with unlimited users on up to 3 files(limited 3 pages per file).

Education

If you are a student or educator, you may qualify for a Figma Education plan. There are specific criteria you must meet to qualify and you can apply here. Education teams allow you to access all the functionality of our Professional team for free in addition to access to community groups and classroom resources.

Education accounts are valid for two years. If you are still a student or educator at the end of the two years, you can reapply for Education status. Learn more about Figma for Education.

What is the difference between a full seat and a viewer seat?

Full seat: Anyone with this paid seat can edit files they’ve been given to access to(ex. they have edit access to a team, a project, or individual file).

Viewer seat: Anyone with this free seat can view or comment on files they’ve been given access to. Viewers can also export files and access redlines on a file.

A project is a collection of files that you can share with granular permissions, available for teams.

Can I collaborate under the free plan?

Accepted Answer

Yes! You can create a team with 3 files for free and collaborate with unlimited users. You also can share any files in your personal draft space with as many viewers as you want.

Can I mix and match plans for FigJam and Figma Design?

Accepted Answer

No, you cannot mix plans for different products. If you plan to use Figma Design on the Enterprise plan, your FigJam users will also be on the Enterprise plan.

Do you have to have a full seat in Figma to have a full seat in FigJam (or vice versa)?

Nope! You do not have to have a full seat in Figma to have a full seat in FigJam(or vice versa). Each member in your Figma account can have a different seat in each product.
